Description: For sale is a scarce set of three luncheon knives and three matching luncheon forks in a popular old scroll pattern by Hamilton & Diesinger of Philadelphia. I have known collectors of this pattern, but I have almost never seen any place pieces, just servers. The knives are 8 3/4 inches long, with blunt style silverplated steel blades and hollow handles. The forks are 6 7/8 inches long, and together weigh 139 grams. The fork handles have the unusual different patterns on either side of the handle, but the knives have the same pattern on both sides. The pieces are all monogrammed “B”. The knives are marked “HAMILTON & DIESINGER / PHILADELPHIA” on the blades and have the H&D trademark and sterling on the handle backs. The forks are also marked with the trademark and “STERLING” on the heels. Condition on the pieces is fairly good. The blades have some wear-through at the edges and bolsters but nothing too bad. The handles are tight, with minor edge dents as shown. The forks have knife marks on the tine backs and normal wear from use. Some very scarce place pieces in a popular pattern from this little known manufacturer!
