Description: An original 1946 signed aquatint etching on Johannot paper with a la poupée coloring by well-listed French-American artist Louis Justin Laurent Icart (1888 – 1950), titled Swept Away. The print was created as an original illustration for Claude Prosper Jolot de Crebillon’s 1946 book La Nuit et Le Moment. The print depicts a man and woman in a sensual embrace on a staircase. The print is signed in pencil to the lower margin. It is float-mounted to a blue-gray backing and is matted in natural white specked linen. It is presented behind TruVue UV Protection glass in a composite frame with cast surface embellishments, seamless corners, black and gold tone finishes, and a hanging wire. Icart was born in Toulouse and died in Paris, but lived in New York City in the 1920s, where he became known for his sensuous Art Deco colored etchings of women.
