It is my life.” The effects of her life are still enriching Louisiana: her paintings of wildflowers, her iris hybrids in cultivation, her books, the existence of Kisatchie National Forest, her home that is now Briarwood Nature Preserve, and her pioneering women’s participation in government, in the US Forestry Department and the De Soto Commission.
