The cat can be found on a taller more ornate mug and the mug is used and marked with the yarn used in the Royal Windsor Cat Series. Not sure why this is marked Japan. Maybe a prototype that didnt go into the series. If you have more information on this mug I would love to learn the history! The lip on this mug is worn, it is a vintage mug from 70s-80's and was well loved in its previous home. I would still consider good condition. But not perfect
