Description: MARIA MARTINEZ San Ildefonso Pueblo Blackware Pottery 1923-25 Signed Marie. Measures close to 9" in width making it fairly large for one of her pots. There is some chipping/nicks and wear along the rim but overall in great condition for display. Light crazing in the matt glaze that surrounds the serpent design. Crazing in the satin glaze is much harder to notice. No cracks or repairs. Signs of age and nice patina. Some lighter scuff marks and scratches are shown in the photos. Contains the "Marie" signature without "Julian". Sources say this signature represents being made approximately between 1923 - 1925. Beautiful piece of Native American Pueblo pottery made by a world famous artist. Maria's pottery can be found in museums all around the world.
