Description: Maxfield Parrish - “The Three Shepherds” (aka ‘Christmas’ in print form) - Original Unframed Color Cover of the December 3, 1904 (Christmas Number) issue of Collier’s Magazine for which it was originally painted. Nicely protected from being in a 1904 full year bound volume of the magazine. It measures 14 1/2”x 10 1/2”. There is a small ink break to the right shoulder of the right shepherd (photo #7, other white spots are stars) and the original postal fold is visible (photo #8) not that apparent if framed under glass. It was issued as a print in 1904 and used as an illustration in the 1911 1st Edition of Palgrave's ‘The Golden Treasury of Songs and Lyrics’ and subsequent editions. MP signature discernible in bottom right corner (photo #9). Photo #11 is the reverse. (Ref. Flacks 4th. Ed. Page 127, last two photos). A nice cost alternative to the full size (rarely seen) print form. Please visit my other Parrish listings. A nice seasonal decorative piece (or gift). I refund shipping charges over actual. Will ship rolled/tubed for safety and economy. Please specify shipping choice; USPS Ground Advantage is new and less expensive than USPS Priority. Thanks for looking. (Inv Lot #324)
