Description: Up for sale here is this complete rebuild kit for the McIntosh MC2205 amplifier. This contains new capacitors for the 4 circuit boards, replacements for a number of transistors, a new .22 uf 630v film cap to replace the one wired to the bridge rectifier, and replacements for the two screw-terminal main capacitors. This kit includes 34 capacitors--2 Chemi-Con main caps, 3 axial Supertech capacitors, 6 bipolar Nichicon Muse, 8 Wima film, and 15 Panasonic FC and Nichicon PW. The axial Supertech electrolytic capacitors are for the axial caps on the power supply board. The two main filter capacitors are upgraded to the new Chemi-Con 39000 uf 75v screw-terminal caps, which are drop-in replacements for the old ones. You may need to reuse the screws from the old main caps. The transistors are KSA992 and KSC1845, which are the correct replacements for a number of the original transistors. The new transistors have a different pinout than the old ones, so the instructions will explain how to properly install them. These are all high-quality brand new genuine parts. The capacitors are all at the same capacitance (uf) ratings and the same or improved voltage ratings, except the two filter caps, which go up a bit in capacitance, and the two .47 uf 250v Wima film caps for the meter board, which replace the .5 uf 100v film caps. These are extremely high-quality parts, the same ones I use when I rebuild McIntosh gear. This kit does not include a replacement relay, but if you want to replace it, the proper replacement is a KUP-14D15-48 relay. You can find these on eBay or from various electronics retailers. You will need to snip off a row of pins, and will need to either squeeze the old relay terminals or solder them on, because the new relay terminals are thinner. You will also need to open up the old relay, remove the case, and then open the new relay and put the new relay in the old relay's case in order for it to mount properly. I will include surprisingly well-written instructions, but rebuilding these boards is at least mildly complicated, and you should know what you're doing and have a decent soldering iron.
