MCM large sculptural Murano Zuccheri Nason for Mazzega Italian glass table lamp

Description: This vintage mid-century modern lamp is a large piece of sculptural art that makes a striking statement. As one critic described it, "It exemplifies contradiction. It looks heavy, but is extremely light. It exudes the softness of a cloud, but has bold undulating ribs and a puddle of amber color on top. " Attributed to the great Italian glassmaker and master Murano craftsman Toni Zuccheri. Born in 1936, Zuccheri produced some of the finest modernist glassworks in Murano glass history. Known for his "Sugar" designs, with pools of amber highlighting ethereal shapes, like this table lamp, Zuccheri used innovative glass blowing techniques in colors that were synonymous with 1970's interiors. Carlo Nason, another Murano glassmaker, produced similar styles. Examples of Nason's work are in the Corning Museum of Glass and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.Brass (or brass plated) base and neck. Clear and white large round base with amber / orange / brown /gold ripple highlight. Excellent condition with light patina on metal neck as expected with age. I can replace this if you wish, but you may prefer to keep the original patina. The rough-looking bottom edge in pictures is just the felt bottom and can be trimmed back.
