And you want that to be true for decades. Lead degrades underground tapes and after only a few years all you get is black ribbon. But not with Merco M225 and M226 Underground Tapes. Stocked in 5 standard APWA approved colors: Blue for Water related lines, Yellow for Gas (always a good thing to know), Green for Sewer and Sanitary, Orange for Fiber Optic, Telephone and Communications and Red for Electrical. Merco M226 Non-Detectable Underground Tape is similar in quality and performance to Scotch 300 series.
