Description: MD-49 MicroDetail 1/700 Scale Northrop Grumman FB-23 Rapid Theater Attack KitItem is one 1/700 scale cast resin white plastic FB-23 Rapid Theater Attack aircraft. The FB-23 was proposed by Northrop Grumman to the USAF as a long-range dash strike fighter-bomber about 30% larger than the FB-111. The FB-23 was a follow-on design to the YF-23 stealth fighter prototype (which eventually lost to the YF-22 in the Advanced Tactical Fighter competition). The FB-23 airframe used similar design features as the YF-23 but was significantly larger. The FB-23 presented a longer wingspan, expanded internal weapons bays, extended forward fuselage with an in-line stepped cockpit for two aircrew, and a strengthened landing gear with double in-line main bogeys. The FB-23 had internal space for two rotary launchers that held six to eight bombs/missiles (including air-to-air) per launcher. This design allowed for a fast and stealthy medium-size strike aircraft with an extended reach that packed a punch well above the aircraft’s weight class, not to mention an extremely cool design! This model kit is extensively researched and finished in high detail to 1/700 scale exact. The item includes a main fuselage/wings, v-tail surfaces, landing gear, and a bonus AGM-158B JASSM cruise missile with wings extended.
