Description: NOTE LID OF BOX IS WARPED MAY BE ABLE TO BE STRAIGHTENED This is a set of two mid Showa era (c.1960) Japanese ozen (serving tray) with original signed presentation box. they do Japan by the Japanese artist, Zuiko (see signature in last picture and others). They are made of very durable resin with a gold and silver leaf finish. Each one is similar in size and fan shaped. The original presentation box is made of sugi (cryptomeria) wood. This type of tray was used in its day to serve dinner and sake during special occasions. It is very solid and would make an elegant service tray for meals or hors d'oeuvres. Similar trays are still made in Japan today at a cost of over $200 per tray but lack much of the character of this pair of well crafted mid Showa Era tray
