Description: Westland Whirlwind Fighterby D.W. Cronin & E. HollandbyApprox. 1/10 Near Scale 55½" Wingspan RC Model (the original plans featured in Radio Modeller magazine were for a 65" wingspan 1/9 scale model for twin .30 engines) The Westland Whirlwind was a British twin-engine heavy fighter developed by Westland Aircraft. A contemporary of the Supermarine Spitfire and Hawker Hurricane, it was the Royal Air Force's first single-seat, twin-engined, cannon-armed fighter. When it first flew in 1938, the Whirlwind was one of the fastest and most heavily-armed combat aircraft in the world. Protracted development problems with its Rolls-Royce Peregrine engines delayed the project and only a relatively small number of Whirlwinds were built. During the Second World War, only three RAF squadrons were equipped with the Whirlwind, and despite its successful use as a fighter and ground attack aircraft it was withdrawn from service in 1943.Aircraft Modelworld Peter Cooksley Whirlwind article and color profile sheet included with plans You will receive two large full-size plan sheets with all required patterns plus the information pictured above plansShippingUSPS 1st Class Mail: plans will be shipped folded (worldwide)USPS Priority Mail: plans will be shipped rolled (US only) COMBINED SHIPPING DISCOUNTS ALWAYS OFFEREDThanks for Looking!!!
