Description: THE ONLY DEFINITIVE BOOK AND VIDEO onThe Mount Mansfield Electric RailroadLocated between Stowe and Waterbury Vermont This is guaranteed to be one of the rarest of the rare sets on railroading you will ever find. I spent more years researching this railroad than it was ever in operation, exploring every lead, interviewing people now long dead. While inexpensive e-copies of the book are available on Lulu, those do not contain any photographs other than the cover, nor do they include the DVD or photographs that complete the presentation. This is the complete package as I had originally intended in 2011. It includes: 1. A SIGNED and numbered copy of my 98 page book2. Twenty postcard sized photographs showing the railroad3. A 48 minute DVD that covers the development of the railroad and its route There will only ever be Twenty-four sets like this. Please note that the DVD is a 640 x 480 image size that is best viewed on a DVD player that has auto-zoom. A player that can play -R DVDs (most players) will work. The value of railroading books can vary wildly. Many were mass printed and sold as coffee table books. Those have plummeted i price while rare books keep increasing in value. I have allowed e-versions of the text inexpensively for years, to allow scholarly research to continue. However, that text only goes so far in telling the full story. The DVD fleshes it out. There were no movies made of the MMER, so the DVD contains photos, charts, maps, and overlays. With that, it shows much of the early development of Vermont. The work is a labor of love. The cost of the research went into the of thousands of dollars, which can never be recouped. I recognize that the market for this set is very small. My pricing is in part to make sure these few copies fall into the right hands and are not soon lost in a general clearing out of books in estate sales. Is the set overpriced? Possibly. Then again, who ever thought that B grade horror movie posters would sell for hundreds of dollars? If you are a true fan of railroading in Vermont, and a collector of real history, this set is worth every penny and more. If you are NOT such an individual, please do NOT buy this, but leave the copies available to those who are.
