Her mother knew there was something special about Mavis from the day she was born. Mavis was highly intelligent. She was reading and learning everything. When she read it she then knew it. It was said that Mavis had a photogenic memory. Most people couldn’t understand because they are like me. I can read it 10 times and still not know it. Mavis was an energetic little girl until one day she wasn’t. She went from jumping & playing to barely being able to raise her head. It happened overnight. Her parents took her to the hospital where the diagnosed her with cancer. No one wants to hear those words, but especially the parents of a 4 year old child. They were extremely devastated. Each day Mavis was getting more sick. Her parents took her to the best doctors they could find. But each doctor had the same results. Telling them it had spread throughout her little body and there was nothing they could do but make her comfortable. Mavis lived only one week from finding out she had cancer. Of course it’s so hard not to ask why and feel so much rage inside. Your baby has been taken from your life after just 4 short years. Her parents ended up divorcing and her mother became an alcoholic and the father became addicted to opioids and living in the street. They couldn’t cope with her loss. They have both passed since then. Such a tragedy. Mavis has been looking for them for years to let them know that she is happy now and not in any pain. Mavis can’t remember a whole lot because of her age and she probably blocked some out. I wish I had the time to work with Mavis more but my life right now is very hectic. I am taking care of sick relatives and not in the best shape myself. Mavis needs someone to work with her to help her remember more of her childhood. I’m sure her parents are looking for her also.
