Description: The 1969 Watch Stand. One of humankind’s greatest achievements was the successful manned moon landing on July 16 1969 . Today interest in space exploration continues with renewed vigor and investment. Moon landings are once again the target of space agencies as a stepping stone towards Mars. This sculpture is an exact representation of the 1969 Apollo 11 spacesuit as worn on the Moon. Originally hand sculpted with an exceptional level of detail and accuracy, this stand has received official NASA approval, making it truly unique. The production process utilizes titanium, 3D printed on the same machines used in modern rocket engine production. A very precise and high-power laser melts powdered titanium one very fine level at a time. The print retains all the detail of the original sculpture and receives the same finishing and heat treatment as an aeronautical part. An internal support lattice adds strength whilst keeping weight to a minimum as demanded in space exploration. The visor is hand polished, and a laser engraved leather watch pad features an image of the Moon. The stand sits on a hand turned wooden base. Aside from the high level of accurate detail on the spacesuit, the base also features the iconic footprint familiar to enthusiasts. At 9 inches tall including the base this stand is an exceptional conversation starter, practical watch stand and unique collectable. This stand will be a limited run of just 500 after which the file will be deleted and no more produced. Each base is laser engraved “NASA Approved” and “1 of 500”.Note: Watch not included.
