The example is in near mint condition with only two flaws I will describe in my condition report. The thermoplastic housing lists for $550.00 in Paul Berg's book on 19th Century cases. Only 60 of these were ever made or possibly exist today. If you happen to be a collector of these beautiful cases, I am sure you would enjoy this one in your display. I am sure you will not see this case for sale very ofter, especially in such excellent condition. Good luck to my lucky winner and the next caretaker. CONDITION: Please view my detailed photos for the actual condition of the image and as part of my description. The quarter plate octagonal case is listed as Very Rare in several publications. The case has tight hinges and still closes perfectly with the latch system. The only two flaws I can find are a small hairline crack near one of the clasps; ( See my last listing photo for this issue.) The only other imperfection is the pillow has two worn spots. This pillow could be replaced by the next owner and restore the case to nearly new to Excellent Plus condition. I am pricing this case according to these two minor flaws.
