Description: Contemporary Netsuke 'Kappa' carved by Serhii Polunin. Created in 2024 year.Size approx 2x1 inches. Made of Stag Horn. The Kappa is something of a cross between a frog and a turtle. It has frog-like skin, a beak instead of a nose, and its fingers on both hands and feet can be connected by webbed membranes. On its head, there is a saucer-shaped depression. This depression is the source of the Kappa’s strength, and it must always be kept filled with water. If the water spills out and the depression dries up, the Kappa won’t be able to move and may even die. Netsuke made in traditional Antique Japanese techniques with modern touch. Only natural colours used. Feel free to ask any questions you may have !
