Description: This listing is for (1) Hand Tooled Leather Trinket Box with an Elephant Design. The leather is varying degrees of a rich Cognac color. The inside of the box and top are lined with a fine weave of a darker reddish brown color. The hand work on it is gorgeous! It is 5.5" in Diameter and 2.5" high. The outside of the box features an elephant surrounded by a leaf design--all hand tooled. The sides of the box show a repeated design with 2 elephants facing one another. There is leather lacing that forms the box lid and the bottom of the box. We had the luxury of going on a World Cruise several years back and saw many wonderful places. This was from a working leather shop in Sri Lanka and their handiwork was just beautiful. It was wonderful to see the artisans at work and their talent was amazing. I bought back far too many things to give to friends and this was one I never seemed able to give away and it has resides in my "gift closet" since then. It has never been used or displayed and has been in plastic since I brought it back We are preparing to significantly downsize to a much smaller house and so I am looking for a new home for it! It would make a stunning piece to display in a bookcase or on an end table and it is also a good storage container. The top of the box fits nice and tight.
