(Or other known people's estates.) We pass along whatever info was given to us at the time, and/or whatever we can confirm through our own research. Opinions about condition can vary greatly. If a seller has selected "pre-owned", then any statements regarding the appearance of that item are going to be that seller's opinion. Period. . 5. Used Jewelry Most people forget that jewelry requires periodic maintenance. Even the highest quality stuff can't look pretty forever without some effort. When purchasing a pre-owned piece, it is safest to assume it has been neglected. We always recommend taking your purchase to a local jeweler for a check-up. They can straighten/ tighten/ repair/ replace as needed, and can often buff out surface scratches. All in addition to giving it a professional cleaning. What you get back often looks brand new! Some places won't even charge you for simple stuff, just so they can establish a relationship with you. If there is a charge it is usually minimal. Well worth it to keep your jewelry in the best shape possible for the long haul! . 6. Final Thought We do realize that there will always be people who would rather hide behind/ use & abuse eBay's buyer- friendly policies.
