However, we will send you a free empty ½” x 10 ½” metal reel with each Hub. The free empty metal reel is used and has some surface scratches and scuff marks but is in excellent condition. The name on the empty 1/2" reel may vary (e.g. Ampex, Quantegy, Agfa, 3M, Scotch, etc.) or possibly have no name at all. The free 1/2" metal reel may also have a label or writing on it but is in great shape and perfect for spooling the hub of tape onto the metal reel. The Ampex 1/2" empty reel you see in the picture is for representative purposes only and will not likely be the actual empty reel you will receive. The tape also comes in a gray plastic storage case. Note: This is “new old stock” meaning the tape was made several years ago but is still brand new. Again, the free empty metal reel is used but in great condition. IMPORTANT: Also, please be aware the tape on the hub has, in some cases, “telescoped” over the years meaning the tape has slightly shifted in the pack. If you magnify the picture look carefully at the hub around the "7 o'clock" position. This depicts a slight shifting of the pack creating what is call "telescoping." This is easily remedied...The tape should be unwound onto the metal reel at a very SLOW SPEED (e.g. 3.75 ips) to avoid the tape from possibly spilling off the hub. Disclaimer, we are not responsible if when spooling the tape onto the reel it unravels. If the tape is spooled onto the reel at a slow speed 3.75 ips (or slower) you will not have any issues.
