BID WITH CONFIDENCE - SATISFACTION GUARANTEED NEWFOUNDLAND 64 1897 4c CARIBOU HUNTING CABOT DISCOVERY ISSUE ABNC (#14) XF MPH Four cent olive green 'Caribou Hunting' stamp from the 'Cabot' / 'Jubilee' / 'Discovery of Newfoundland' issue of 1897 commemorating the 400th anniversary of the Discovery of Newfoundland by John Cabot and the diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria, engraved, no watermark, perf. 12.0x12.0. Printed by the American Bank Note Company of New York, on relatively heavy weight, white wove paper with horizontal mesh, white (almost colorless) gum. This very popular issue includes some of the finest engraved stamps ever produced, anywhere. Very good color and crisp appearance. Approximately 80% of original gum disturbed by previous hinging, hinge remnants and paper adhesions. Sound, fault-free example of this Newfoundland stamp. Images should provide all the information necessary to make a reasonably intelligent bid on this lot.
