The mighty overflow of Lakes Superior, Huron, Michigan and Erie, here makes a leap of 167 feet—magnificent in volume, dazzling in radiance, stupendous in its breadth and awe-inspiring in its ceaseless roar. Of all word-painting of this scene which man has ever tried, nothing surpasses these appropriate phrases of Charles Dickens: "It was not till I came to Table Rock and looked—Great Heavens!—on what a fall of bright green water, that it all flashed upon me in its might and majesty.
