The elegant handle of the knife captures the topographic profile and contours of the Aiguilles d'Arves, the mountain located above the village where the Opinel knife originated. The exquisite artwork spans the entire knife, including the stainless steel blade which is coated with a black treatment, and etched with graphics corresponding to those on the handle. From Opinel: “Azimut” revisits the artistic potential of mountain cartography. The contour lines that decorate the handle and the black blade trace a relief map of the Aiguilles d’Arves, a mountain located in Savoie, France that is part of the Maurienne range, the birthplace of Opinel."
