Description: Presented is a wonderful antique American Victorian 10 karat yellow gold mourning or memorial type ring, dating to circa the 1820s-1840s. The ring is beautifully made, with a fine milgrain edge around the sides and raised bars that cover the channel of the ring, where a plait of hair would be set underneath. The head of the ring is designed as a belt bucklet, nicely hand engraved and detailed. The ring itself is in excellent overall condition. If it was ever set with hair, that is no longer present. This ring is not stamped or hallmarked, but we have tested it with nitric acid and guarantee it to be 10 karat purity. The ring is a size 8 1/2.
