Little is known about JSOTF-GCC, besides that it conducts foreign internal defense-type missions with members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (which includes Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates). It appears that this element has combined the efforts previously performed by Special Operations Command (Forward) - Bahrain (SOC FWD BAH); originally formed as Special Operations Command and Control Element - Bahrain; SOCCE-Bahrain), Special Operations Command and Control Element - Kuwait (SOCCE-KU), and Special Operations Command and Control Element - Qatar (SOCCE-Qatar), which date back to the 1990s, none of which appear to remain in operation.
