Situated high in the mountains three hours from Oaxaca City, this is one of the most idyllic settings that one may ever find! Perched at the top of the mountains, with sweeping views of the surrounding canyons and distant pueblos, San Pedro Cajonos kisses the clouds and shines in its art forms. One of the most famous of San Pedro Cajonos artists, is the Blas Family of wood carvers. Their style is so unique and can be identified readily upon sight. Bright colors, and fine painting are their hallmarks. I absolutely love the Blas Family wood carvings! I love these fantastic butterfly wood carvings by Victoria Blas!! Full of whimsy and fun, and bright and cheerful colors!! They are so cute and so unique!! For such an economical piece, these butterflies are packed with a cool sense of motion and detail, with all the spindly legs and fantastic wings!
