Old Claire-de-Lune Chinese Covered Pot Pale Blue: this covered jar is an old Chinese ceramic piece. The color of the glaze is very pale but not even, there are slightly darker areas. Scattered over the pot and lid are several cartouches with drawings of palms and ferns. The glazing is quite uneven: not only is the color varied, there are some blue glazing spots on the lid that are darker and there is a drip on the inside glaze. The inside glaze also does not come quite up to the rim of the pot on the inside. The side has a spot where the glazing did not catch and some other uneven areas in the glaze. The lid has an unglazed rim which fits the pot very well. The lid has a small area of extra clay (a pimple almost) that must have been created when the piece was made. The bottom is unmarked and the bottom rim is again unglazed. Condition is very good, the flaws mentioned are all from making the pot. There are no chips or cracks. Measurements are: diameter is 4 ¼”, height is 4 ¼”.
