Description: ONE PAIR of MW & CO 'FLUER di LIS CAST IRON BACK PLATES CIRCA 1885 (40526-1) Nice set of two backplates by Mallory & Wheeler Co, circa 1880-90. One of the few plates that were engraved rather than being pressed or cast. Plates have been cleaned and clear coated. Each measures 5 1/4" in length and 1 5/8" wide. Mostly found with black porcelain knobs with them. Very nice condition!! Two pairs are available as the auction begins.
