Description: >Offered here is an old and original 1972 U.S. OLYMPIC TRIALS for Track and Field official souvenir program + Olympic Pictorial + participant roster supplement!! Please see all eleven photos, as they are an important part of my description. You will receive all three (3) items pictured in my first photo! This scarce Olympic Trials souvenir program, Olympic Pictorial program and the rare participant roster are seldom offered as a trio on eBay; these three items were originally paper-banded together and sold as one group of items to attendees of these 1972 Olympic Trials. These trials were held here in Eugene, Oregon at historic Hayward Field. These were the Trials where University of Oregon Ducks distance runner Steve Prefontaine earned his spot on the U.S. team that competed in the 1972 Munich Olympic Games. The colorful program contains fifty-six (56) numbered pages; the "Participant Roster" (supplement to the U.S. Olympic Trials program) has a total of eight pages, while the Olympic Pictorial contains sixty-four (64) pages and includes past and present Olympic history (with photos). The all-important Participant Roster states: "Because the entry to events in this meet stayed open until four days before competition, it was not possible to have the names of athletes printed in the official program. This supplement gives a numerical listing, by event, of the athletes with their best time of the year and their (team) affiliation. Also noted, by event, are new field records set at the NCAA Championships in June". Steve Prefontaine is featured on the main program's front cover, along with shot-putter Randy Matson, hurdler Wes Williams, Oregon long jumper Bouncy Moore (not sure who the fifth athlete on the cover is). >Photos inside the Trials official program include: Oregon coach Bill Bowerman, Juris Luzins, Sid Sink, Frank Shorter, Wesley Williams, John Powell, John Craft, Dr. Delano Meriwether (yes, he was a real doctor who ran in very brief racing shorts with suspenders!!), Bill Skinner, Jan Johnson, Larry Young, Russ Hodge, Larry Walker, Rod Milburn, STEVE PREFONTAINE (see photo #5), John Smith, Tom Von Ruden, Fred Newhouse, Hal Connolly, Al Feuerbach, Bouncy Moore, Tim Heikkila and the Kenny Moore. Please note there are no women participants, as the Olympic Trials for track & field were not yet a co-ed track meet. A "dynamite TRIO" of memorabilia from the 1972 U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials!! <>Condition: the main Trials program (the blue and green program) is in very *Fine Shape* overall, showing only minimal age/handling faults...nice!!! A few of the "events" pages were "scored"' by the meet's attendee. The program's binding is solid, with no rust/tarnish on the spine staples! The accompanying Participant Roster is in similarly fine shape! The Olympic Pictorial exhibits moderate age/handling faults, to include binding wear. Both programs are complete!
