The coverage area extends from Italy to the Caspian Sea, south to northern Africa and Arabia. Among the hundreds of named places and features are Nineveh, Phrygia, Moab, Olympus, Crete, Alexandria, Tyre, Jerusalem, Damascus, Hebron, Gaza, the Red Sea, Byzantium, Thessaly, Ararat, Land of Uz, Canaan, Rome, Egypt, and the Dead Sea. The image area measures 22 x 28.6 cm [8¾" x 11¼"]. The map was engraved by Fisk & Co. and published in 1892 by Hunt & Eaton, New York in The People's Cyclopedia. There are three inset plans along the lower edge: The World, Showing the Portion Known to the Hebrews The World as Peopled by the Decendants of Noah Map of Sheba, Ophir,&c. Condition: The map is in very good condition, bright and clean, with no marks, rips, or tears.
