Owen:An illustrator and etcher/engraver, Frederick L. Owen devoted his talents almost exclusively to nautical subjects. During the 1930's he became particularly well known for his drypoint engravings of tall masted ships which were published in limited signed editions of one hundred impressions by the Madison Avenue firm of Schwartz Galleries. Today his fine prints are included in many major American collections, including the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco which lists an impressionin its permanent collection.
