Description: Large original vintage 1962 Seascape Painting. Depicts rolling dunes on a sandy beach with waves cresting on the shore in the not so far distance. Medium is Gouache on paper done in an Impressionist style. Very well done with nice, clean brush strokes and soft earth tone colors. Eye catching and appealing yet calm and subtle. Very viewable. Signed by the artist and dated Marguerit 1962 in the bottom right hand corner. Painting in Very Good condition with gentle wear. Some faint lines cane be noted in the sky but quite minor and does not detract from overall display quality. Very well preserved. Protected behind glass, matted and framed in its original, quality walnut wood frame. Frame exhibits gentle wear and scuffing. Affixed to reverse side of frame is a metal tag which reads Leland & Gray Union High School followed by the number 575. My research shows Leland & Gray to be a private college course high school in Southeastern, Vermont. This painting was once in display in this school. Quite worthy of further research. Painting measures 21” x 14 1/2”. Frame measures 29 1/4” x 23 1/4” x 1 3/4” thick. Please enjoy the photos for further item details and if you have any questions feel free to ask.
