Description: This listing features an original Christmas card designed by artist Barry Moser. The image of the angel was created from an engraved wood block by artist Barry Moser, and printed from Moser's block at Moser's Pennyroyal Press in 1981. Each card measures approximately 10-1/2" x 8" when it is opened. The size of the front page containing the image is approximately 5-1/4" x 8". The image is beautifully, dramatically, and very skillfully carved in the wood block by the artist. See the enlarged section demonstrating the fine line work in the resulting print. Each of these cards is considered an original work of art, since each is printed individually from the artist's carved block of wood. The artist Moser founded and operates Pennyroyal Press, and thus controlled the process and quality of the resulting prints produced by Pennyroyal. Each print is not numbered but, the statement inside the card authenticates its originality. Each card is unused, clean, and has never been framed. Artist Barry Moser is an American artist, known as a printmaker who specializes in wood engravings. He is also known for his book illustrations, including books of Lewis Carroll for which he won the National Book Award for design and illustration in 1983. He has been on the faculty of the Rhode Island School of Design and Smith College. His works have been on display at the British Museum, Metropolitan Museum, Harvard University, and the Library of Congress.
