Description: An original heavy embossed green tint glass soda pop bottle circa 1900's. The bottle measures 9.5" tall by 2.5" in diameter weighs two pounds. The unique feature of this unusual bottle is how the bottle was sealed. A glass marble is held in the neck of the bottle. When filled and pressured, the marble would be forced to the top of the bottle neck held by a the rubber seal. To open the bottle, the top of the bottle was slapped by the palm of your hand to force the marble back into the neck of the bottle. A pinch in the glass would hold the marble in place preventing the marble closing off the bottle top. The slapping motion and pushing the marble back into the neck was like a "POP". The preceding is how soda bottles were often referred also as "POP" A rare and highly collectible bottle and incredible detail embossing in the glass bottle Thank you for your interest.
