Dated and titled on the back Size: Approximately 3.5" x 4.5" Seller's Note: This ORIGINAL manipulated Polaroid SX-70 is from the personal collection of the artist, Bruce W. Hall, a 77-year-old reclusive amateur photographer who worked in the medium from the early 1970s to late 1980s. His inspiration for the work emerged after attending a lecture and exhibition by artist/teacher/author Norman Locks. At one point, Norman nonchalantly pulled from his red and gray plaid workman’s shirt, a neat little package that looked like a deck of cards, but was a handful of "Manipulated" Polaroid SX-70 images. Brilliantly conceived in imagination and reconfigured by technique, Norman's work altered the subsequent path of a stunned Bruce's own creative journey. Not long after the workshop, BWH purchased his own SX-70 Special Edition Camera and several packs of film. He also bought a 5” x 7” clipboard and “borrowed” some of his wife’s knitting needles for manipulating the image. He then went to the local book store and picked up a copy of Norman’s book, “Familiar Subjects.” For the next several years SX-70 pictures emerged from Bruce's Polaroid camera like a frenzied plague of locusts. Up for sale is one example of his unrelenting pursuit for cause, chance and purpose in a life as an artist. Packed flat and securely protected in a poly bag.
