Biography: Morris Katz (born Moshe Katz on March 5, 1932 – November 12, 2010) was a Polish-American painter who holds two Guinness World Records: as the world's fastest painter and most prolific artist. Born in Galicia in 1932, his generational artistic talent was evident at a young age. At age 13, Morris studied art in Munich under the famed Dr. Hans Fokler. During the Holocaust, Morris suffered the horrors of Nazi concentration camps where he lost most of his family. Immigrating to the US as a Holocaust survivor, Morris showed his gratitude to the United States by undertaking his longest and most cherished project, the President Collection.Morris spent six years painting each US president in the “Old Master” style, averaging 200 hours per portrait. In 1965, Morris was commissioned by the Vatican to paint a portrait of Pope Paul VI, which sold 3 million copies worldwide. Morris’s art career would earn him global acclaim, with nicknames such as “the world’s fastest artist” and “the Albert Einstein of Art.” Morris’s incredible talent at both conventional and “Instant Art,” through which he completed artistic masterpieces within minutes, turned him into a celebrity featured on all major TV shows.
