Description: Over the Sea: or, Scenes and Incidents in Other Lands, Sketched for Young People. Published in 1852 by the American Baptist Publication Society, Philadelphia. No author is given. Top edge is gilt. One frontispiece illustration. This smaller sized (4 X 6 in.), 180 page, blue cloth hardcover contains a travelogue, probably fictional, of a trip to Europe, including parts of England, Scotland, Ireland, France, Germany and Belgium. There are a couple of chapters on the Sabbath ("Sabbath Schools" "Desecration of the Sabbath"), the latter observed in Belgium, where work didn't cease on Sundays. It's written in an easygoing style, for older children and adults. Good condition. The spine is a little tanned, spine ends are chipped, board corners rubbed. There's an indentation on the front board's fore-edge. The hinge papers appear to have been torn and repaired at some point in the past. Pages are unmarked, securely bound. FREE shipping in the USA. Thanks for looking! Location: old books for young Christians section.
