Description: Inlcudes: Nikon FA camera body, body cap, new Nikon neck strap and a pair of red & silver wrist straps. The FA is the overlooked gem in the Nikon line. The most advanced manual camera Nikon ever made, and is also perfect for learning on. It was so ahead of its time, it includes all the functionality of the mechanical FM's as well as the FE's, plus a 4000th shutter speed, an open-ended Bulb setting for unlimited-long exposure times, and is the only classic model to include the sophisticated matrix metering for proper exposure. ...so you still get the full control of manual lenses, but a very advanced shooting experience. Matrix Metering uses a built-in light meter and internal computer to correctly set your exposure values so you don't waste film on over or under exposed frames, and can just focus on your focus, depth of field and composition quickly to grab shots on the fly, without having to stop and calculate the exposure too. For the learner, you can just set the dial to Aperture mode while you learn about depth of field, then experiment with Shutter priority mode to learn about speed, and at any time, it even has a Program mode if you get confused, or are unsure of the best settings and just don't want to miss capturing a scene in the moment. It's still the system in use on the most modern expensive digital cameras even today. The body is in practically perfect cosmetic and functional condition. Has the B2 view screen, so no split ring in the middle. It has never given me so much as a hiccup, and is a little like jewelry, there's no discernible wear on it and its shutter still has that crispness that they have brand new. The shutter feel of an FA is one of the finest things Nikon ever made. It's some insane ultralight titanium composite honeycomb leaf shutter (never touch it ever) that somehow goes all the way to a 4000th and yet has this incredibly light, rolling 2stage vibrationless feel, like k-shhkhhh. The FA was sold as a luxury camera, and that shutter makes sense of that. It's exquisite. Things to know about vintage Nikons: All these more sophisticated vintage Nikons, FE's, FA's, FM3A's, etc, need two stacked single-cell batteries from Energizer, NOT the single taller double-cell battery. That'll save you from buying extra camera bodies trying to figure out what doesn't work, like I did. Once you buy the right battery, they seem to last forever. ...but are not included, so I can ship the box Priority. Please see our other auctions for more vintage computing stuff and a ton of high end camera, outdoor sports, and cycling gear in the coming weeks. Thank you, M & P
