Description: Up for sale is a pair of L & F Moreau figural lamps. They are about 24 1/2 inches to the top of the figures, and 45 inches to the top of the finial. These were purchased in the early 1960's and have been well cared for. Beautiful condition. Made of painted spelter. Very heavy at just under 14 pounds each. They will be professionally packed before shipping. The sculpture was made by two brothers, Louis Auguste (1855-1919), and Hippolyte Francois Moreau (1857-1930), part of the Moreau family of sculptors from Dijon, France. Louis worked in bronze and metal sculpture while Francois was a painter and sculptor. They collaborated on many, many highly ornate and detailed decorative pieces in the Art Nouveau era, mostly lamps and clocks, and signed their pieces “L & F Moreau”.
