Description: This old double boar tusk necklace is a classic example of men's adornment in Collingwood Bay. A prestige item and the golden boar's tusks must be 100 years old. Strung on bush fiber and decorated with Bagi and clamshell discs. Likely from the 1930s-40. The shells that the Bagi are made from are the rare "chama pacifica imbricata" a relative of the oyster. They are white inside with a narrow rim of red which is the only part used. Pieces are broken off and ground flat by rubbing on a rock and then a small hole drilled in the middle. It takes several days to grind these shells smooth. Hangs 19"These are very rare these days. We are selling the last of our personal tribal and art collections.
