Parker Pen Big Red (Duofold) Pen in Bright YELLOW, Never Used circa 1982, Brazil

Description: We appreciate your time in looking at this NOS listing of an exciting opportunity involving a long retired model from the Parker Pen Company in Janesville, WI. Although the factory has long since been closed, their heritage lives on through their high quality writing instrument offerings. This listing is actually one of the few products that were not made in Janesville, WI, France or the UK, during their history. In 1971/72 Parker proclaimed that the famed Parker Duofold was revived under the label of BIG RED utilizing interchangeable ball pen and soft tip writing modes. Millions were sold to those who nostalgically recalled the Roaring 20s and those young enough at that time to think that "Big Red" was something new. (Credit to the Parker Service Department for that information). In reality, the Big Red had very little in common with the Duofold, except for size and outward appearance perhaps. The ballpoint pen was coming into vogue and Parker was filling the "demand void" with the Jotter, Systemark and later Vector lines. The BIG RED was very versatile and could utilize a Ballpoint, Floating Ball (Roller Ball) or Soft Tip Refill (Porous Point) by using a series of accessories held within the pen. The Big Red was made in Brazil for a short time to try to extend the lifespan of this entry level Parker product but that also became problematic for unforeseen reasons and was dropped very early in the 1980s. When launched the pen had a couple of targeted markets which were explained during the launch...Big Red is Back! A good sized pen in flashy colors. This product will not only be attractive to young, fashion loving consumers but also entry level customers who have larger hands, or for those who have arthritis or any other affliction to the hands or fingers. The product hit a good spot! This listing: $19.95 for a BRIGHT YELLOW Big Red, all components are original. Please see the images for the various parts that are included in the pen. This writing instrument has been stored in the slotted-tray (last image) for over 40 years. The box was shut and there has been no light exposure at all. Therefore, this pen is PRISTINE and looks just like the day that it left the factory. Of course, the refill will need to be replaced if you intend on using the pen. There is no box as you will note. We are also selling the Bright Red, Bright Green and Bright Blue in separate listings. NONE of these have ever been used!!
