The first edition has the Rinehart logo, a stylized 'R' within a circle, on the copyright page. This copy does not include this logo, so this set is an early printing, but not the first edition. The classic Pulitzer Prize winning history of the Rio Grande region. An epic history of the regions four civilizations; Native American, Spanish, Mexican, and Anglo-American through ten centuries. Each volume is 6-1/2" X 9-1/4", a total of 1,020 pages, with Index and Appendices. The entire Table of Contents for both volumes is included in the attached photos, as well as several photos of text pages. Sturdy dark blue cloth covered cover boards, with the title and author name printed on the spine. Cover boards are flat, the corners are not bumped or worn, no edge wear to the cover boards. Sewn binding is tight and square. Edges of the text block are relatively clean with just a few minor dots of age tanning to the top edges of both volumes. No former ownership marks, no writing on the text pages. This set is not a library discard. The outer slipcase box is intact, all of the corners are intact. The wraparound artwork shows rubbing wear, some scratch marks, chipping/rubbing wear spots on the back panel, spots of edge wear at the opening exposing the slipcase boards beneath the outer wrap. A very sturdy set, the box and volumes together weigh more than 4 pounds. The attached photos are of the copy we have in our inventory. To be mailed oout in a box, Media Mail.
