Description: For sale we have an Original Paul Kauvar Smith Signed Painting Fawn Creek Oil On Board Colorado Artist. I have not found another example of this painting. There is a catalog online with his sold pieces of art work and this one is not in the catalog. I believe this is the first time it’s coming up for sale and really the first time it’s being introduced to the world. It’s oil on board and measures just under 16” x 12”. The board has a slight bend which makes it fall short of what I’m assuming was the original 16” x 12” size. The corners and edges have some wear but look pretty good for the most part. You can see bumps where the nails were pressed against the back. Pulled it out of a house in a small town in Colorado. Beautiful Colorado scenery and bright colors used in this painting by well listed artist Paul K. Smith. It does not come with a COA but if you compare the signature and style of painting it becomes easy to tell this is his original work. Smith was one of the more important artist to come out of Colorado in the late 20th century and has works shown in Denver Art Museum and the Smithsonian. He was the founding member of the "Colorado 15" group. The bottom 3/4 of the painting looks pretty great for the most part. Couple of dirt spots and small marks and there might be a little dirt embedded into the paint. The top 1/4 is a little more rough with more dirt clumps, marks, and more dirt embedded into the paint. I lightly brushed it to clean it and was getting plenty off without damaging. I decided to quit while I was ahead in fear of damaging it and leaving it to the professional to be cleaned. I am confident it will clean up more. I didn’t try to clean up the marks and dirt on the back. Still an incredibly rare piece of art that would display well once framed. The frame in the picture is not included unless requested by the buyer. It might be the original frame but it’s kind of brittle and wood chips off if not carefully handled.
