Description: Here is a vintage pair of pioneer speakers model CS-99 with nice grills. Solidly built and the cabinets look to be in good condition. I like the connectors with spring action, very user friendly. Some light scratches on the cabs. The bottoms showing the most wear. Tested these on a 2000s super light Magnovox FT9413 model receiver. I like to use this model for testing because it is so light weight and it picks up signal practically without an antenna and if I drop it, oh well. Of course both the technologies are different between them. Probably would sound better with original era equipment. But I thought it sounded good for this model of receiver. I cranked it up and I got a little bit of static on the high end. I did notice very slight sound difference when turning the knobs on the back of the speakers. That being all said, these are to be sold in Absolutely AS IS condition. Because they are 50 years old and or older. Packing these takes an extremely long time and shipping is very expensive. So if you suffer at all from buyer remorse I strongly suggest NOT to consider this purchase. If you are NOT handy with them, I strongly suggest not to consider this purchase. Unless you don't mind paying somebody else to repair them if needed and at your expense. SOLD AS IS regardless of sound quality based on your opinion versus my opinion. No best buy warranties etc on vintage equipment etc, even best buy charges beyond factory warranties. I don't restore them I just resell them. I don't like to explain it this way but I have to because of past experiences with buyers. This was with perfectly working items which I thought were fine and these were not expensive old electronic audio items. They were not damaged from shipping these were nitpicking complaints about a certain feature that didn't meet personal expectations on something that is 40 years old. Since this is 50 years old I am sure the original parts still remain. As far as I know I don't think these cabs have ever been taken apart. Selling AS IS regardless of what the description states or does not state. Very iconic speakers and great conversational pieces. I have seen these speakers used to entertain brewery guests. Very cool!! These will be very fun to own and I think you will enjoy them. I am just simply giving you a very rare opportunity to own a piece of sought after Pioneer audio history to someone who will enjoy them for what they are and as they are. I am in love with them and I am having a hard time parting with them. But I will never use them. But hopefully you will and enjoy them. Thanks for looking.
