Description: Welcome to my listing for:Pitkin & Brooks Pottery Chicago HJ Hutchinson Decorah, IA* Cut Dec 1896 Billhead*From a very large collection of cut billheads from a prominent late 1800's - early 1900's Decorah, IA retail / wholesale merchant. H.J Hutchinson operated his general merchandise business as early as 1896. One of his specialties were China, dinnerware, crockery, lamps and had a large Christmas gift selection. He also branched out as a major buyer of fruit and vegetables - he once advertised having bought 2 rail cars full of "New York Apples" and in another ad, a car of Maine variety white potatoes. In October of 1898, he was on a published list of the town's merchants that elected to close early (at 8:15pm) so employees and customers could attend the grand opening of the "New Grand Opera House" in town on November 19th of that year. He ran the business for about 60 years and passed away in 1953 at age 85. This collection is so large - several 100 in fact, that time constraints don't allow me to describe these individually as I would like. Please have a good look at the photos to assess the condition. Most are in good to very good condition and you will receive the exact billhead shown in the photos. Will display well in your collection. Most all measure 8 1/2" w & range from approx. 2 3/4" to 3 1/2" h This will ship securely inside a poly bag in a rigid mailer via USPS Ground Advantage service with a tracking number.
