Plaza Hotel White Carrara Marble Fireplace Mantel

Description: Circa early 1900's classic white Carrara marble fireplace mantel with floral motifs, fluted columns, and serpentine apron. The outstanding trim details add elegance to the modest design. The images shown represent the mantels that are available, but please note that the actual mantels in stock may not possess identical veining as the one depicted. The mantel is in good condition but has age appropriate wear. This mantel was removed by Olde Good Things prior to the 2005 renovation of the NYC Plaza Hotel. The cast iron surround is available and is included with your purchase. All of the mantel shelves in the Plaza Hotel had electric lamps installed on top. Therefore, the shelves have holes in them. We have used extra matching marble to repair many of the Plaza mantel shelves for our customers. The rear edge of the mantel shelf where it meets the chimney wall is 58" long. These mantels were made in the United States for the Plaza Hotel which opened its doors on October 1, 1907, with expansion over a decade later. All crates have Phillips head screws on one side so that they can be easily opened by the customer.
