Description: Signed copy of poems by Anthony Thwaite. Privately printed for the author by some of his friends in Japan. This addition of poems by Anthony Thwaite is limited to 150 copies, signed by the author of which this is number 81. This is a small print of his early work in 1957. Auther writes “Later this year, a volume of forty poems will be published in England, but I am very pleased that my first book of verse, like my first child has been produced in Japan.” This book contains a list of beautiful poems celebrating love and rules of conduct. Admiring the beauty of our work and all that’s sarrounds us. “This book is a selection of work written between 1953 and the end of 1956. The poems are group, more or less according to theme rather than chronology, though in fact, the first is the oldest, and the last nine are among my most recent. Thirteen were written in Japan, and though not all of these are on ‘Japanese’ themes, I wonder if they would have taken quite their present form if I had not written them here. The themes throughout the book, if they can be grouped, might be said mainly to be love (in many moods) and rules of conduct. I hope that within these broad groups the readers will find variety and interest, even in those poems which are pretty obviously prentice work” - Author, Anthony Thwaite.
