Note by the author: "Ten years have passed since the publication of the first edition of these collected poems [1935]; in this new edition I have taken the opportunity to remove a few poems whose immaturity will no longer support publication, and I have added about thirty new poems. I have made slight revisions in a few of the earlier poems, but just as often the original readings have been restored as being more faithful to the original moods."
