Description: Porsche 356 Pre-A Parts Catalog Ersatzteil-Katalog II - Jan, 1955 + 1953 Edition OK, this one will take some explaining... When I first acquired this volume, I was initially unsure of what I had. I mean, I knew it was an original dealer Pre-A parts catalog (Ersatzteil-Katalog II, the 1955 version) - and an incredibly nice one - but it appeared too thick, like it had too many pages. Then I noticed that the 10 section tabs were doubled. There were actually 20 sections. What exactly did I have here? After closer inspection, I figured it out. The volume has two editions inside of it, an original 1955 catalog, and a vintage copy of the first Porsche parts catalog from 1953 (Ersatzteil-Katalog). If you're familiar with these early catalogs, then you know that the very first catalog in 1953 didn't have the familiar screw post bindings that all of the later catalogs enjoyed. Instead, they had a weak spiral binding that quickly failed. Accordingly, few original copies of the 1953 catalog exist. My theory is that when the dealer who received this 1955 volume got it, he made a copy of the previous 1953 catalog and inserted it in the same binder. Whenever this occurred, it was a long time ago as the copied pages of the 1953 catalog show significant yelloinwg on the edges that can only occur with the passing of many years, I have included multiple high-resolution photos showing the exact condition of this item. For U.S. customers, I will ship this item for $15. For international customers, the shipping and customs quote for this item is based on the eBay Global Shipping Program. Depending on the country in which you reside, there may be less expensive shipping options available. If you make your purchase (by using Buy It Now) before contacting me, I will be unable to offer you alternative shipping methods. I’m not a dealer and I don’t do this to make a living. I’m a collector who owns more than a dozen vintage Porsches and I spend a fair amount of my spare time hunting/buying/trading parts for these great cars. All of the parts I have listed on eBay were, at one time or another, purchased for one of my cars or were actually on one of my cars. Have parts for sale or trade? I have multiple cars undergoing restoration right now and I'm always interested in hard-to-find, early parts for 356's, 911's, and 912's. Thanks for looking.
