Description: This lens is a unique milestone in lens design that will never be made again in this optical and mechanical quality, the fastest macro lens ever made for single-reflex cameras, the product of a rare co-operation between Swiss, German, and Japanese craftsmanship. It is offered here as a complete set consisting of lens, original lens caps, and original leather case with minute signs of use in collector's quality. In brief, this is the history of this lens: The Swiss-made Alpa camera was highly esteemed for its precision. While its interchangeable lenses were picked from the production of leading Japanese manufacturers, its 50mm standard lens was actually designed and made in Switzerland by the optical firm of Kern in Aarau. The Kern Switar was one of the very first macro lenses to be built for 35mm cameras. It had a decent opening of f/1.9. In 1976, the manufacture of the Alpa cameras was outsourced to Chinon Industries in Japan. At the same time, its standard 50mm macro lens was also made in Japan according to a Swiss lens design and Swiss quality controls. There are stories according to which some of these Alpa Switars were assembled in Switzerland from mechanical parts and glass elements made in Japan. As a special bonus, its maximum opening was raised to f/1.7, being the fastest macro lens ever made für SLR cameras. Camera and lens were sold as an Alpa as well as a Chinon. An even smaller number was made for the German photo retailer Photo Porst. To compete with the innovative Contax cameras, the barrel of the Porst macro lens received a vanguard finish of soft cushion grips. It is this rare version that is offered here as a complete set in collector's quality. This is what you will get:(1) Porst Color Reflex Macro Lens f/1.7 50mm Serial Number 630689 with M42 thread-mount;(2) two original Porst lens caps;(3) original Porst leather case, near mint. Condition: Lens is fully functional and has no defects that would impair its optical or mechanical performance or use. The quality-control sticker of the Japanese Camera Control Institute is still attached. The lens can also be attached to other cameras with an inexpensive adapter. I am selling my collection as a private individual, therefore no guarantee, return or other warranty. Buy with confidence.
